Because, honestly, I couldn’t have done any of it without them. There’s the constant love, support, and council. There’s the constant stream of interesting connections, and the beautiful repertoire suggestions. The house-sitting, emergency phone call taking and the knowledge that I have ground support back home while I’m out on the road.
But I think the thing that I”m most thankful for is that my amazing folks have always trusted me to know my mind and to do what I know is going to be best for me. And when their crazy daughter decided that she wanted to keep a roof over her head in a pretty uncertain industry, there was never any question on their part about whether maybe I wanted to think about a back-up plan. Since I was young, they’ve always encouraged me to love music, and to expand my horizons, and they’ve celebrated this giant scary step with me, with love, compassion, and wicked humour.
Seriously. I couldn’t have done it without them.
